I am relocating our hives onto a farm full of OSR and wheat. The best location, one near OSR away from public access and yet within reach of a track, is near a grain store.
I know that there are mice and rats in the area...is there anything specific I should do to help protect my hives?
All the best,
Sam

Fit mouse guards in winter, but you would do that in most places.

Hivemaker,
Thanks for responding...I will do that for sure but I was thinking of the day to day Summer challenge. Inquisitive, hungry mice/rats. I wouldn't want to leave the mouseguard on all year round as this may have a detrimental effect on the pollen collection capability of the colony. Am I right?

Thanks,
Sam

No problems during summer when hives are strong and active, and food plentiful for the rats and mice, even in winter they would be more interested in the nearby grain store.

Thanks for the reassurance ...about to move my colonies again and want to avoid another painful error.
Sam
