No damp - as I’ve already explained above. And no matchsticks either. Just sufficient top insulation.
I find the same and no matchsticks either. My thinking is based on bees in their wild habitat of a hole in a tree with usually a single entrance.
And before anyone says the wood will absorb any moisture you should read Seeley's work on wild honey bee nests...they propolise all the interior wooden surfaces, effectively waterproofing them.
The Abelo floor insert is made of polystyrene so does a very effective job of floor insulation. Just need to pull out and empty debris every month or so as the bees can't reach it but wax moths can!
