Does anyone know of any company selling these, they look a handy bit of kit to me and it saves handling the Queen which i am not comfortable with, i have the mesh type plungers but i want the slotted type like this which also allows the workers to get out of the way.

Mr Woo.... I cut the plastic end cover to queen excluder size... also tape on the end as it can fall off... useful also to hold queen when manipulating etc etc.
Thornes sell a one handed fancy device for about £18 more

A usefull bit of kit

Yeghes da

I could not find the type i am looking for Hopit do you have a link, but before you mess on and maybe send the wrong type of link i allready have a couple of the normal Queen marking plunger type cages with the mesh section at the top, it is the slotted type i am looking for.

Most if not all beekeeping suppliers used to stock those or at least something very similar. Perhaps they are more usually available during the breeding season? I have a couple but never use them...would never find them when needed anyway. Keeping the Q. free from the scent of one's fingers cannot be but helpful at times.....some bees ball very readily.

P.S. Google Paul Sullivan, Bee Supplies Dublin. He has one in the queen rearing section.

Thank you for that I googled the name and found what i have been looking for straight away, i have ordered one so here is hoping i don't get messed about.
Cheers
Steve.

He is quite straight in his dealings and operates an efficient mail order service. You are unlikely to have problems.

DIY one if you can't find a supplier, I got some of those little QE just cut the end off a normal Queen marking tube and cut QE to fit, hot glue or tape new cut out of QE back on. I think I'm going to try one.

Think T's have a turn and mark cage in their Rand sale £3

Edit: too slow - sorry

If you look at your hand there is a very handy bit of kit called finger and thumb.

When there are drones next year practice catching and marking and clipping them, though do remember to kill them so as not to confuse matters.

It's how most of us learn how to do it and I certainly did and it has stood me in very good stead over the years.

Oh and cheap too..... I like cheap. Actually I like free even more.........

If you look at your hand then mine you will see a difference, my hands have been battered about by steel and other things over the years which means i do not have girly hands like you may have ? , i put a screw through my index finger one year and splatted the other with a axe another year, both hold lumps of scar tissue and i have little delicate feeling in them , the only thing i have with delicate feeling is in my undies otherwise i would not have asked this Question.;)

Have been using standard marking tube since my beginners course with varying degrees of success as it really needs three hands for ease, one for the tube, one for the plunger and one to mark

Was recommended the turn and mark this spring. It controls the depth so you can't accidently squish Q against the top, and having slots instead of squares means workers will clear off leaving her maj trapped

A thoroughly recommended cheap bit of kit wherever you get it

28 years in the oil business on rigs and platforms.

Got contractions developing.

Numbness in one finger so no not that delicate really.

I seriously suggest you do some practicing and it will be fine.
