Just to update from last week as I said the queen flew off the frame during

the inspection. I had a great sence of lost but O joy to find her again this

week back on the same frame she flew off. I must say well spotted by the

better half, was I let off the hook. Out of our six hives three are well stocked

but the other three are very low on stores, anybody else finding this to be

the same? DOWN TO THE BAD WEATHER:):):)

Great news on the queen:)

Having the same issues with stores. My biggest colony had 2 supers of honey+pollen and they've used about half. I've been feeding the other colonies syrup for the past 2 weeks due to almost no stores or income:mad:

I expect she dived back into the box.. its the Black AMM Hoodeenie allele!

Light stores

I checked my 4 hives today, 3 of which are swarms/casts, and the one with the old original queen and lots of brood needed feeding, another one needed a top up and 2 others were OK. No doubt the stores have taken a kicking over the last week or so, cold and wet again, but things have warmed up again.
I now always feed if in doubt, I'm not going to take any honey off this year anyway and want to go into autums with some spare frames of sealed honey to feed back in the winter/spring if needed.

I had a pretty queen fly off today. She was a newly mated queen who had set up home in a small gap under the hive floor. I moved the floor and saw the queen. As I reached for my plunger marking cage, off she flew. I put the hive back without its floor propped up by a three sided eke. I hope she is back home now. I intend to check again in a week when I will put the hive floor back.

I hope she comes home, when you see them leave like that its quite sad but when they are back all seems ok again. Well thats what her indoors thinks it was me who got the telling off.

Yup, she is back home and marked too.
