My mind is working overtime now, how about an ultra violet light and ultra violet paint for marking the queen. One shine on a frame and she would glow!!!

Varroa entrance?

You know the laser scanning machines that are use to scan food producs for deformities such as when 'farmers' are grading brussel sprouts etc they can do thousands in a second and spot the difference between a blade of grass and a rocket leaf.

Well why not set this up with an entrance which attaches to a hive and has little tubes for the bees to access the hive but they are scanned for varroa mites. if there is a mite the bee is dropped into a small tank in under entrance where there would be hive sanitiser powder (or some thing) to make sure they get a good coating and then the bee can get out and try to go through the entrance again, if the mite has gone the bee gets in, if not its dunking time again.

Would need electric but would make sure that if your hive is free of varroa it would stay that way?

A sheet of kingspan insulation cut into six removable sides and a lightbulb?
