My honey has been accepted into our local fancy shop and they have asked me for a poster to emphasise how local it is. The bees are working the ground surrounding the premises as they are roughly 7-800m away.

What would you put on an A4 sheet?

A google maps style birds-eye view of the forage range for the bees with your hives in the centre. Small icons of the various flowers imposed on the locations of the map where they can be found. A few sentences underneath like 'This is where PH's honey comes from, this area and these flowers, the bees make 23,000 trips just to make this jar for you. If you live within 3 or so miles of here then they have probably visited your garden'.

It's area relative, people can point to their house on the map if near by, they can feel a connection with the locale.

If your worried about giving away your hive location to thieves then obviously that wont work :D

Put a hive outside the shop with the poster above it with a big arrow pointing to the hive and a caption saying "Now that's what I call Local"

Blunt has a good idea.

If it were me I would keep the location of my hives off the poster, the last thing I would be doing is basically saying "here's my hives help yourself"

This is Scotland remember.... where one famous brewery used to decorate their lager cans with pictures of scantily clad ladies...in those (now banned) laddish days. Apparently their ad dept had done their home work as it tasted crap but was a best seller.
So has to be a local girl (or man) drenched in honey....
A tasteful one,,,, not a naked one :)...took me long enough to find one that wasn't naked...LOL

For some reason I am hearing the old Castrol GTX advert music / voiceover when i looked at that picture. "Liquid engineering"

Not sure I would be giving all and sundry the exact location of my hives!!!

Yea like I said, if you aint comfortable then dont do it. My hives are in my own field, well secure and visible from an A-road running past my house, it wouldnt bother me. If yours are in a forest or unsecured area then not worth it. OP might consider the same idea with the shop as the centre point as its not far from his hives!
