Whilst doing some work at my brothers apartment I wondered past a small shrub in the courtyard and was amazed how many bees were all over it!

Anyone able to tell me what it is?

To me the flowers had an almost mint smell.

I am guessing but it looks like marjoram. But.... That's not a shrub so maybe not!

So it isn't a shrub and it has the wrong colour flower :)
I can definitely say what it isn't! It isn't marjoram ;)
Thanks peterbees. Been out and looked at my marjoram and you are right it has a bluish tinge

Just found a wider shot. It seems to like to trail down.

Hard to tell on my phone but it looks like oregano, which is the white flowered version of marjoram I think

wild marjoram

I've attached a pic of wild marjoram - I have one site with several acres of this it...yields well and for quite a long time. Can't see the pic here...might fail...hit send and see what happens...

Looks like it worked! This is Celia, by the way - she specialises in gathering nectar from wild marjoram. Wants world peace and enjoys travel.

I think I might know celia's sister! Actually thinking about it she may have more than one. If I remember rightly they look very similar except for the eyebrows.

I would say oregano but to be sure, just crush some leaves and smell. can't miss after that... Mine is flowering just now and full of bees.

I'll try that next time I'm passing as well as trying to get a cutting!

Thanks all. Yes it's Oregano as many have said. I used that phone app to confirm and also crushed some leaves!

Bees still all over it!
