Look closely at the amount of bees ;)

well, the amount of bees could be a number of things?

orientation flights, bees in the air due to inspecting?

Maybe the picture doesn't give the full justice of the amount of bees! They are leaving the hive at a incredibly speed...

The sloe berries are ripening well which reminds me need to purchase a couple of litres of gin, last years sloe gin has all gone

Looks to me like he's just taken off a pile of supers and they have taken offence .. the roof is off the hive and he's got what looks like a queen excluder in his hand ...

Senior moment ! Us octogenarians have them with increasing frequency !

No no......you'd be surprised and maybe aghast that shook swarming is encouraged at all times of the year by the BBKA.....maybe not winter but then there is Sussex University advocating scraping all the brood out into the snow
