I burnt my (ex) girlfriend's carpet doing that :)
Burnt it with the iron, taking out the wax you spilled ?
Some people can't be helped:rolleyes:

Yes - I thought, "oh crap, I've spilled wax on the carpet"

Quickly followed by "oh ****, now I've burnt the ******* carpet, she's going to kill me"

:ohthedrama:

Not yet she hasn't.....
Never found out what type of brown paper you are meant to use. Use an iron and melt the wax and it drains further down into the carpet. You might, at best, remove the superficial top layer. But you need a porous blotting paper type to mop up. The use brown paper is, me suspects, anl urban myth oft repeated with no definition of what "brown paper" you are meant to use.
You have wax on clothes etc easy..boil wash. Melts the wax off. Carpets ...steam cleaner will at least move it below the surface.

Not at all - used it successfully to remove a load of wax from a 'good' pair of trousers early this year as I got wax over them whilst taking the early Christmas day service (no electic in the old chapel and not much daylight at 0530 Christmas morning) I just used bog standard brown parcel wrapping paper - available at most post offices.

Yes it works a treat. Just make sure you put the porous side down and iron on the shiny side, although I guess you would work that out.

I shall give it another go and report back. Last time I tried it I only made it worse...I used newspaper which I thought was absorbent enough...
