We have had our offer accepted on our dream cottage close to Jedburgh.

We are hoping to make the move up in August and spend the winter settling in.

Before there is a nonsence about moving bees from here to there that is not I repeat not happening as after this afternoon I will own none. ;)

I am pleased things are going well for you and wish you every happiness and success.

Had to google it to find out where it is - Scotland! Congratulations on the dream cottage - and commiserations on not being able to carry on beekeeping. A new phase begins and I wish you all the best.

The cunning plan is to set out bait hives this summer and to hope for some arrivals which I can then breed from next year. Plan A !

It is a lovely area, I know it quite well. I used to drive through there just about every week when I worked in Perth and at one time really wanted to move to a place I saw in Hawick - not that far away from Jedburgh, then I swapped jobs and ended up back down here, I spent a lot of time looking at property around there and I can see the appeal.

The Scottish borders are still very unspoilt countryside and it would be a pity not to have a few bees around. It's actually quite a mild climate - much less snow than a few miles further north and relatively warm for North of the border ... but - it's wet - all the year round, lots of rain I'm afraid ! ... Good luck with the move.

Plan B get some anonymous person to send you a package.
Plan C rescue a little old lady with a swarm in her chiminy.
I'm full of plans

LOL I have already had an offer for plan B....

I will leave the cut outs to the mildly insane. Been there done it, and dear me never again.

It's a very sad sight though to see the apiary deserted bar the non survivors.

Sorry if I gave the impression I was quitting for ever.

Brood break fits the bill neatly, nice one.

It just makes my life that much simpler to not have bees this season. And I am now bee-less.... which I can assure you is a VERY odd feeling.

Think of the bright side!

You can now start posting in the Beginners section and get lots of valuable advice about how to start up keeping bees!

Congratulations on making the dream into a reality.
