I don't know - a squish between thumb and forefinger or against a gatepost is far quicker and instantaneous than a slow cold lonely death in the freezer.

Fortunately I didn't have to kill the Queen as she was not in the Hive, I had capped brood but no eggs and only a few Larva, very strange what happened to her, I have looked through the pile of bead bees in the bottom of the Nuc but no signs of her....
