Hi. I’m based in north Essex and am in my second year as a beekeeper. I have a single WBC hive (yes, I know not popular - but no apologies from me). The hives in my garden and I’m hoping to expand to two next year. I’m loving learning and sharing my knowledge and am hoping to expand what I know through this forum. Thanks for having me 😁.

Welcome ... nothing wrong with WBC hives... William Broughton Carr - a great Yorkshire beekeeper - was well ahead of his time with the WBC and the insulation layer between the lifts and the boxes was a great way at the time of giving bees the environment they prefer. We are only just (100 years on) catching up with the benefits of insulation. They also look like beehives should look.

I doubt anyone on here will criticise anyone for using WBC's.

Enjoy the forum - the best beekeeping one on the planet - lots to learn, a huge archive on information, innovation and good sound advice. The search function is not great so don't be too afraid to post your questions - always somone around to offer advice or an opinion. Whether you take it or not .... well that's beekeeping - it's all about decisions.

Welcome from me too
Pop your questions in the beginners section and we’ll do our best to help you along
Enjoy the bees
