Hello All

Im new from Oxfordshire have no bees at the moment but really want to get a few hives so if anyone from south Oxfordshire would like to share some knowledge or help a beginner out please let me know

I always said I wanted to keep bees when I start drawing the pension but that's about 40years off so thought I'd best just start now, as I have plenty of places to keep them and would like to help the bees out a bit

welcome Tom.

I'm in Newbury, so if you want some locally bred bees let me know.

Hello from urban East Oxford! I took the OBKA's introductory course last year. It's a bit of a way from S Ox to Woodstock where the apiary is, but it's a good course and very reasonably priced.

returning now the spring is upon us and the better weather. so looking for some bees available in Oxfordshire

Thanks

Have you joined your local Beekeeping Association? That is where most mentorship and help will be.

Hi from Radley

I have two colonies purchased late last summer, and they occupy two national hives in my garden. It is a new hobby for me and I find it fascinating. I have many books to help me out, but they all say different things, and the more I read the more hooked I become. It is lovely to sit and watch them doing 'their thing' and it has been a great way to see nature from a bees' perspective. I have joined many societies - BBKA and my local one for starters - and have a mentor down the road who helps me out when I need it. There are lots of bees in each of the hives, so winter has been good to them so far, and they have a pollen/fondant feed if they need it. It has been my most absorbing hobby so far. Love it!

I am from Radley, near Abingdon, and have two new colonies. I could offer some basic advice if you like.

Wasn't there a nasty murder there?

Morse caught them in the end though!

Oh by the way, :welcome:
