Field Bee
Hiveing a swarm of course - I was wondering whether the OP used a BBox to capture and transport - a different fish kettle.
Depends on the size of the swarm. I usually collect in a 6 frame nuc box but I've had one a few years back that was too big for a national brood box.
We caught our first swarm a few weeks ago at a local restaurant. As newbees we gave it our best shot. We had read how it's done and been told what to do back in UK. Big box, shook swarm off tree branch into box. Did the bit with sheet and upturned box.
Later had to drive back to our apiary - so as newbees, drove back in our beesuits, as box was now not so secure (there had been a rain shower....) - thankfully, only a short drive and no gendarmes about!
Took bees to hive, turned box upside down, sheet to hive etc.....
Watch them walk up to hive and left them for a while to sort themselves out. Came back later - all sitting 30 foot up in the tree above the hive! Obviously missed queen - but we learnt and someone somewhere got themselves a good swarm.
