Hi All,

Has anybody had any problems with orders taking forever with NBS, they are normally fairly good,
I think they may be under staffed at this busy time of year...

Would be interested to know if any other beekeepers have had to wait a time for their hive parts etc :serenade:

Bad attitude if pressed over failing on commitments.

Ordered 2000 frames from them last year, got into a slanging match with the boss.

Lots damaged on delivery, but to be fair they organised replacements without any fuss and the frames are the best I've had.

Just reading the threads, there seems to be one supplier after another failing to deliver the service people expect. I guess that's a function of everyone ordering last minute supplies in. They were probably really quiet in March!.....but I didn't know I needed the frames in March!!

I was passing through Okehampton last week so did a spot of retail therapy at NBS. They were extremely busy with a large part of the shop taken up with online oders on trolleys and staff rushing around they still were very helpful and polite never had any problems with them

Just after I had finished typing this thread the delivery van pulled in, would you believe it...

Within the well packed boxes was the usual second to none high quality hive parts, perhaps the delay was due to the wood being not quite seasoned enough..

They make such beautiful hives and frames...let's hope they are getting on top of the back log of orders...

Just resurrecting this thread as wondering if anyone is currently waiting for an order from National Bee Supplies? It is approaching 2 weeks since my order and still not had anything... I have emailed and messaged on facebook but heard nothing back. I can't call during work hours due to the nature of my job but feeling a bit frustrated as this order is urgent.

The reason why there are winter sales is to partially help cash-flow for what are small businesses. Also because they can't cope in high summer and the sales are to encourage you, me, us, to think ahead and order in advance. Frames and some parts won't 'go off.' For most of us, at least one pack of foundation will probably be needed this year as part of the usual comb-change in any case or it will keep for next if wrapped in plastic. A spare flat-packed super will be no ill store. A thoughtful bulk order in winter will probably save money and a lot of angst.

I've always found anything ordered in the summer can take at least three to four weeks to arrive, assuming they have the stuff in stock, had problems trying to find somebody selling foundation for honey supers a few years ago.
I now work out what I think I'll need for the following year then add a bit more to cover for emergency contingencies and order in the winters sales and it arrives in good time.

Yes and I do usually bulk buy in winter but things have gone a bit ballistic here in the last few weeks and I have hives with 7 supers on. So yes maybe should ha e ordered even more but hey ho.

As they say bees don't read the same books as us so we never know what they are going to do.:rules:
