That's why when I fell off the stepladder holding a full bait hive and the hive tool, I was still holding the tool (and hive) when I landed on the floor. Ouch!

The author of "Beekeeping Study Notes" is not a BBKA examiner (& has not been a BBKA Basic assessor for several decades) so make of that what you will.

There must be a Monty Python sketch to go with this, with John Cleese saying, "Now remember to hold your hive tool at all times!"

But it does make you wonder. If you ask 4 bee-keepers for an opinion, you get at least 4 answers. How on earth did they ever manage a book of rules!?
