In the past i have moved my bees in a shot distance (a mile or so) by blocking the entrance moving them and then unblocking the entrance 3 days later and not had any issues.
This time so that i can close the entrance when they are not flying i will have to block them in then move them 3 days later and opening the entrance.

Any thoughts if this will courses any issues with them flying back to the old site

bees are flying but unlikely warm enough yet for longer range trips so you may be ok but temps are being predicted to rise so shutting them in may cause issues if it does get warmer. If you are going to move them this way I would go sooner rather than later if you don't have the option to go 3 miles then back to the new apiary to leave them fully open.

.
Put one box into old site if something return. So you see. I have mating station 2 km away , and it is rare that any bees return.
