Hi Guys,

I was checking one of my hives today and I have a new queen who has started laying.

However the brood (larvae) looks a bit milky, a bit like royal jelly but in all cells. Any thoughts what this could be? You can still see white larvae but they are definitely milkier than in my other hives.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for the advice,

Felix

Sounds like a healthy, well fed colony and the brood is well provisioned. When the colony is struggling, the larvae can appear to be in dry cells.
I have been checking new queens for signs of laying and found the same.

Yep, newly-mated queen in my strongest hive is doing the same
