I'm so sorry to be posting again today asking for help!! I'm now on day 6 of Monitoring Varroa and the avergage drop ove the 1st 5 days in 117 per day!!!!

I have the MAQS treatment, the forecast in my area over the next week is 16c to 21c during the days and 11c to 13c during the night.

So tonight i shall start the treatment although i would ask for the following questions to be considered prior to blundering into yet another mistake!!!!

1/ I will use as directed in the instruction 1 pack (2 strips) (Y/N?)
2/ The varroa mesh and monitoring broad will be left in, (Y/N?)
3/ The Entrance block will be fully removed so the entrance is the full width of the hive? (Y/N?)
4/ Should i misalign the super on the BB to increase ventilation? (Y/N?)

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Best Paul

You don't say how large the hive (cavity) is.

1. Y
2. Close screen
3. Your temperatures are a bit low for good evaporation.
4. N

I hate to disagree with Mike who is God but
Leave the inspection tray out

1 strip for National
2 strips for Double brood or 14x12
Leave super alone

As long as day temps are above 10deg you are fine to apply MAQS I believe, as we all know once it is in the hive, temperature won't matter cos the bees take care of that[emoji6]

It should be 17C day temp to be effective.

Formic acid makes gas chamber to mites. I wonder why mesh floor should be open?
