Do you have to use a nuc box .....or can you use a standard national brood box and dummy it down to 5/6 frames?

Do you have to use a nuc box .....or can you use a standard national brood box and dummy it down to 5/6 frames?

You can even put dividers into a national deep box and turn it into two 5 frame or three smaller nucs.

I think using a nuc box is more energy efficient than full hive and dummies, but if I run out of nuc boxes I do use full size. Bees are OK in either

I like splitting a brood box into two 5 frame nucs I have three on the go at the mo I’ve used little disc entrances of mini kieler hives entrances are at opposite ends , if I remember tomorrow I take a photo of one.
