I had one queen who, each season would fill all eleven frames with wall to wall brood (not one cell of stores!) yet never a QC, not even when I wanted them in a Demarree - i had to move frames to another hive to get QC's.
Hoping her daughters and granddaughters are the same!!

Same could be said for designer poodles, flashy watches and sporty cars.
Give me something I've nurtured, selected from and reared. Then again those that buy in the designer bees don't know what their missing.
 
I'd consider non-swarmy bees a valuable asset..less time and resources I have to spend on swarm control the better (although there's always going to be some!). I've only kept bees for a few years and only had a couple of colonies at a time but they generally seemed quite keen on swarming. Since helping out at my BKA apiary I've noticed that some colonies definately seem less swarmy than others. We can't import bees or queens here so it's a case of making the best of what we have - although not having Varroa makes up for it!
