I have finally got this kit into a good colony today. Will be going back tomorrow, to release the Queen who I'm hoping is going to lay up the plugs! Meanwhile I have another colony which I have made Q- so I shall be removing emergency Q cells from that Monday ready for plugs to go in. Now this is a ideal world but I know the bee's don't play fare Sooo as a back up plans I'm thinking graft into plugs if they remove eggs. I seem to remember someone else having this problem?

On a different topic I have a newly mated Q today which is looking lovely and healthy. From the same Q in jenter , pleased about that : )

Congrats on the mated queen.

In my area, they're not very keen to tend cells unless they're fed. They still look after cells, just not as many as they do before the solstice. I am now putting single bars of 15 cells in cell builders instead of the double bars I put in before the solstice.

There's a flow on here but I will feed also to to be safe. I'm working with 2 bars of 10. Hoping maybe : ) I'm going to try to get 40 raised, but we will see how that pans out ..

Just going to see how ( Barbara) youngest daughter has now named her lol; has got on in this kit. Fingers crossed!

Well Barbara is only just starting to lay in the plugs so she has been caged for another 12 HR . See how things look in the morning.

Barbara (Q) has now been released after laying all the plugs, she was desperate to get out of that cage, can't blame her though! The eggs are upright still and I could do with a link to some pictures of egg to lava so as to get a idea when to transfer these as timing is a bit messy now!

Transferred whole Frame into middle of brood nest, here's hoping : )

Thanks for the link.

But I'm having problems with this already! The bees have different ideas and removed all the eggs of which the Queen has just laid back up again, now what the heck are they playing at? So I'm back at square one again!!
I'm going back with grafting bar in couple of days as a back up. I'm trying to avoid cutting comb, which is my old method.

Only done grafting myself but wouldn't it be wise to wait until the eggs hatch before moving to the cell raiser.

In my experience, not the same but, bees receiving eggs from another colony often remove them and nearly always accept larvae.

Yes I agree, not moving eggs about, will wait three days.

Finally got the just hatch lava into Q- starting colony! At first look of the plugs and we thought they had removed the eggs for second time but with a magnifying glass we could only just make them out! So 20 have gone in :) will check in couple of days to see how this has gone.
