Congratulations Luminos, I am jealous as I don't have any honey bees yet. now look after them little girls and good luck.

When the title said "I've got Bees" I wanted to reply 'See the doctor, he will give you cream for that!'

Congrats and say goodbye to any free time you thought you had! At least that is what happened to me as it can be an all consuming pastime / hobby / obsession!

:D

I've got my bees!

2 colonies, one on single and one on double brood!

So excited I hardly slept last night. Unfortunately it's cold and miz today so I'm not seeing much of them...
How lovely for you :)
A little word of caution. As much as you want to look at them every day, only do it from the outside!
Get some acrylic crown boards, minimum 6mm thick, then you can take a look without disturbing them ;)

Well done Luminos .... and remember, Varroa is your enemy. Your bees will need some serious help at keeping on top of them. Monitor, monitor, monitor ... treat with something effective when they need it and plan to have healthy bees going into winter.

Thanks for all your good wishes and advice :) not worthy

I've discovered that a hangover (from celebrating one's new bees...) is pretty much the best deterrent from nosing in the hive :( so I've left well alone.

Have re-read Storch, and re-reading Hooper, and have ordered 2 see-through cover boards - just need to order some decent weather!
