Hi All, my Mum works for a charity that takes in second hand books and sends them out to Africa.

Anyway last week she came across a signed copy of R.O.B. Manley's "Honey Production". Unfortunately it's a 2nd edition but in very good condition, crica 1946. I've attached a picture of the signature.

I was just wondering if it's worth the charity try to sell it, or should it just carry on its way out to Africa?

Cheers,
Ed.

ABEbooks have it at £16 - Just double-checked. They vary going up to £30-50 if tehy have dust cover, good condition etc. So may well make more if sold here than sent abroard.

As it is signed it may be worth a bit more but rather than asking here calling an antiquarian book shop might be a better idea?

Certainly outdated.

No OSR for a start, and no or very few permanent pastures that Manley was so fond of.

Fascinating though to see how little in so many ways has not changed, and the mention of Bee Farmers names that are now brands, Gale for instance, and the prices and costings.

Thanks PH, I did not know how hard it is to pick up second hand books from charity shops, I can never seem to get one and where ever I go I make a bee line for them, lots of books on cooking and gardening lol

I just wonder if anyone here might be interested, would you allow offers if folk are interested, commission free, as it's for a good cause?

Simon

Bee books are scarce in 2nd hand book shops due to demand.

One last year in Wigtown! and I had it...lol

Hi All, thanks for the info and the offers (I've had a number via PM). I have let me Mum know the options and I will let you know what she decides.

For those that expressed an interest the charity is: http://www.twam.co.uk/

Cheers,
Ed.
