Is it time to feed pollen?

Is this a good time to start pollen feeding ( i have neopoll) to aid a good early colony growth?
 
it is only january. survival should be their prime concern, not brood
 
You could, of course, but you may well be needing to feed heavily (to a very strong colony) to prevent starvation before a decent strong spring flow starts. All a balance or compromise. I won't be considering it until the middle of next month, at the earliest. I will be ready, but will only start when I feel it prudent.

will the brewers yeast based patty work the same as pollen one? as a source of protein?

Various reports on that matter.

Pollen pattys are made with pollen, and Pollen SUBSTITUTE are not. I think they sub ones are more for the beekeepers peace of mind.
