I fell out with my neighbours over my bees. It got nastier and nastier. They were unreasonable, but still it wasn't worth the hassle, or shouting or the threats of legal action.

If you can smooth it out, I would recommend you did. I am very sad that I now have no bees in my garden and I have fallen out with my neighbours.

Dishmop, it may not have been a complaint as such, more a very strong hint that he would not like any further deposits of bee poo on his nice shiny motor thank you very much Mr Mop if you don't mind awfully.

How about building him a car port?!!!

my apriary neighbour complained to the district council about my bees shitting on his car, ive had 3 visits from them!!! i was quoted a court case where the same council took an injunction out against a person whose bees were supposed to have stung a neighbour. i did move them about 100 meters and that did help the change in flight path. hope its ok for you

Have been looking at fencing panels in B&Queue with the intention of making my fence higher...

any thoughts or facts on what size holes on trellis that bees wont fly tho..
There is some with square holes approx 50mm square and some a lot bigger..

or will they not see the holes at all but just a blur of fence and go around it, or higher to go over it?

be carefull, if you are looking at putting a fence higher that 6ft, you may need planning consent. i would put up trellis and grow a bee friendly plant like passion flower or honey suckle

I had thought about gowing something along some trellis but it will have to be something that grows quick and high....
The existing fence is about 2 metres so I know I cant use full enclosed panels.

Apart from demonstrating to your neighbour that you are trying, will an extra 2 to 3 foot, on top of your existing six foot fence, make a significant difference to your bees' toilet behaviour? Might a bee friendly plant growing up the fence make the situation worse?

Dont know yet, but like you say,,, its showing that I am trying....
He concurs that there was no problem last summer........ summer being when the cherry tree had leaves which cut off some of the light that the bees fly towards....
They flew out a couple of metres before gaining height then turned out over the fence and round the end of my house..... This flightpath took them away from the cars over the fence form the hives. They used the same route to come back and if you happened to be standing in the wrong place they just flew into you....

Honest!!!

how about a living willow fence? they grow like fury. Look nice too. AND it will probably drop sticky stuff on his car.

Try googling Living Willow Fence (sometimes known as Fedge). There's tons of info on the web. Dead easy to do, and now is the right time of year.

Is this not a case of multiple spring bowel evacuation, which will lessen as they fly more?

I think that it is most likely... and if my fence construction coincides with less poo from the bees,,, he might think the problem is solved.....

The layout..

Tree has been trimmed back since this pic taken...

Offer the cash strapped council a fair price for the land !
It's been done in the village I live in :driving:

The lies/deception they told about that bit of land would make a good TV documentary..

tell the guy to move his car over a bit its closer to your house than his!! Also on a completely serious note even if you do move your bees stop them flying over his car what if he still gets poop on it from other insects, is he going to come a knocking?

He used to whinge about the blossom from the tree as well.....:puke:

Reminds me of an incidence involving my amateur radio activities :cuss:
An irate guy came banging on my door demanding that I cease using my radio immediately as it was messing up his video recorder which turned his TV screen green .
"Show me " was my response!.
Round to his we tramped, he switched his equipment on and rightly ,it displayed all he complained of !
"How do you know it's me " I asked . "It's got to be said he".
"I don't think so" said I," seeing that I'm here with you whilst the interference is happening and my radio isn't transmitting or even switched on"
He then had a John Cleese moment ,so funny to watch.
I subsequently found out that he'd bought the (faulty ) recorder from a car boot sale .
After this episode I had little to fear on the interference front as his embarrassment saw to that !

Bloke moved into a house next to G7ORT, he took one look at all the antenna, noticed that his sky signal kept disappearing for a couple of seconds at a time, so without consulting his neighbour, he paid for Ofcom to send an inspector to investigate.

Nice Ofcom guy knocks door, examines licence, explains problem and my friend explains that it is a bit of a problem when the aircraft let down through the signal when landing at the airport. Now if only the neighbour had asked, they might have found a friend, saved lots of embarrassment and £60 or so in the process.

Re the bees, tough it out, be nice, offer nothing that can be connected with any incidents as they will be a rod for your back, but do share your bounty (slightly). Then start visibly putting in the gates, as an option - will the pavement need to be lowered by the council?

Nothing said, but the message will be very clear. If mentioned, deny it.

:) paint roundel on the parking space for bees to aim at :)
