the last time I saw her showing her bees on springwatch, her and the experienced beek were chatting about what they were expeting to see during the first spring inspection, then they took the roof off and found signs of a severe mite infestation.

I dont think her hive has been on the Tv since :rolleyes:

Not realised she'd done it on air. Stupid not to do a dry run, then, isn't she?
 
I'm with you Chris, not so bad; and I wonder to what extent the discussion about varroa was 'staged' to make the piece educational for a wider audience?

100% ................nothing is not staged, correographed and scripted for broadcast in the media !
 
What was he treating with? It looked to my ineperienced eye like OA- in a hive full of brood?
 
Nah, it was sugar water.

Seriously that was what I thought as well, still the man is an expert bee keeper apparently, what ever that is.

I found it amusing that the program started with bumble bees.
 
So what sort of honey crop did our Kate Humble get for 2010 then I wonder?
 
anyway, back to the original post, who is she to say that the 'middle classes' are the main new beekeepers?
oh, it's in the torygraph, of course!!
