I have some osr set honey, already set hard in buckets (about 20kg)
I have loads of summer runny honey, to be extracted soonish (est about 60kg).
I have NO soft set honey to act as a seed.
I would like to turn all of my honey into soft set / cream style honey.
What would you recommend as a method to achieve this goal.
Thanks

What you want in life and what you get are usually polar opposites.
I love reading threads about anything to do with beekeeping where there are specific statements about what folks want and simply must have, when it comes to all things beekeeping, I have just resigned myself to plan for the best and manage the worst :)
Have a look here, can't stand the stuff myself.

hi grif I have osr honey that went hard, I warmed it up in some hot water and mixed it about till it went soft then I put it in a kenwood mixer till it went turned into soft set and I did not use a seed for it did same last year and it ok

Buy some local soft set as a seed? The stuff I buy for use as seed costs less than I sell the finished product for so regard it as a (very) minor profit maker.

As long as the producer is localish and produces their honey properly then all well and good I think.

I was in the same position last year just cut out a couple of pounds of osr from the bucket and warm in the oven then mix it in the runny you want to set. Then stir three or four times a day until ready to jar I find this takes four days. To stir I use a stainless steel plaster mixer on a big drill. Then keep a couple of pounds for a seed.
