keep finding little discarded beach towels left all over the landing board after they've gone home

Suspicious...
While believing everything that has been said, I did think that my dirty stop-outs were getting closer to the entrance each night... so I opened up the hive. The little darlings had been building drone comb on the bottom of the frames and filling it with nectar. In fact, everything was filled with nectar including the recently added super. The only thing that wasn't full of nectar was the second super, which was above a QX. So I removed the QX and put the empty super between the BB and the full super.
I have the notion that the girls will transport nectar from the BB to the empty (lower) super.
Not bad considering that at the beginning of May they were a five frame nucleus. (Their Welsh neighbours were a five frame nuc at the beginning of June and they have drawn out seven of ten frames on their first super.)
It feels like a good year.
