I am planning on setting up my own production line to cope with the anticipated high volume of orders, but for these prototypes Thornes sell them as Rhombus escapes (they have to be cut in two, I may make a video of that)

I understand that Ann Summers do a popular line in plastic "parts" but as always various specialist mail order suppliers will probably be your best bet for what you need.

Fantastic design and execution of the product. May I suggest that we arrange a meeting of SBKA at the hive where you can demonstrate your skills.

I make a lot of stuff with father in law and I reckon its way more satisfying than simply getting a delivery and making it up.

I look forward to mark 2 and indeed 3 and 4 which, if I'm cheeky, could include a deeper top side to make it a eke for apiguard.

The other, previously undocumented and probably mystical power they have is that of a swarm lure. If proof were needed I've had a bait hive in my garden for the past few weeks without any interest, however within hours of returning one of these clearer boards to the garage, scouts moved it.

I fear I may have to revise my price list.

Very good question Ed, and while its too early to trumpet conclusive proof, lets just say that "observations are ongoing".

I can say that if the varroa mite is pressed underneath the board, either on a bee or standing by itself, it does get eradicated. Logically, the next step will be to find a foolproof way of lining up the mites on the board rim.

Doc - The application of a squished queen to the board is an optional extra (+£50)

Chris - I want to teach the world to sing, and the hive may be too small a venue. I had selflessly prepared a 4 hour demo to present after Saturday's meeting. Sadly I was told that the RAF are very sensitive about high tech demonstrations on their premises and they require a percentage of the intellectual property rights, so I'm opening a dialogue with the Defence Dept.

Sugarbush - in all seriousness and despite my rather cack-handed attempt, this design appears to work very well - two tried and both cleared 100% of bees overnight, I suspect a lot less time is required.
