Don't be silly, they were obviously living off the dinosaurs, and the moment they departed on a flying saucer, the bees had to find a new prey, and so as soon as the smoke cleared after the big meteor impact that happened totally coincidentally at exactly the same time (only a few decades for the smoke to clear - wonder how much stores they'd need to survive that) they must have discovered that flower nectar was pretty good. If not quite as good as eating dinosaur ...
