Hi everyone. I just joined having been given an unused WBC hive. Yesterday I began a practical beekeeping course and took part in hive inspection session which included identifying and marking a queen. Fascinating and I look forward to the weekly sessions through the year.
I have fitted new foundation to my hive, set it facing South in the garden and baited with lemongrass oil. Fingers crossed!

If you can scrounge old comb from somewhere and add it to the bait hive, it may help
Might be better not to post you exact location on an open forum?

WBC hives are pretty but..... There are drawbacks, may be worth reading up on them and deciding if they are for you! It's just that most of us don't stop at or hive and then it becomes a question of ease to handle, buy, maintain etc.
not putting you off tho. WBC is better than nowt!

Yes, they are a bit small - mine are all on 14 x 12 now :)

WBC hive?

I know some yoga exercises for bad backs..:)

Thanks everyone. Noted about the location and adjusted accordingly for security although we do have the place covered with cctv and a dog with good hearing :)

Welcome, Carry on with WBC for now as you have it. If you are going to weekly meets find what Hives others use. Ask if you can go to their apiries and find how the different types of hive handle ask about pro's and con's and reason for there choice.

Hi And welcome,

I'm not that far from you and a relative newbee myself but if I can be of any assistance, feel free to ask.

Regards
