Been out and can now confirm we have the red berries Hawthorne in flower as well as the black thorn . Although not lots just yet, it's good to see, just need better temperature : )

No Hawthorn here yet but SWMBO has been up to Sussex in the last few days and there are Hawthorns and Horse Chestnuts out in some places.

Apple blossoms. Hmmm. We've had maple, aspen, and alder pollen for a couple weeks. No willow yet. Nuc queens have just started laying.

My pears and cherrys in flower. still loads of gorse along the river, and some hawthorn on the hills

Hawthorn coming into leaf now, blackthorn/dandelions/gorse well out in flower though. Most daffodils now past there best.

Dandelion where in flower, but i strimmed them all lol Rape is flowing well also but not much about here this year that i have seen

I rarely see bees on hawthorn.

So cold this last few days I doubt if nectar is coming in from any source.

I have the acacia flow expected to start soon. Can't wait as that's when my new colonies will get the first solid flow of the year and really start growing. Might even get a couple of frames for myself!

Yes - Hawthorn is a funny one .. lots in flower around me down here but I think the prolonged dry spell we have had makes it a poor return for my bees - lots of other stuff in flower so they are not bothering with it.

Hawthorn only produces a nectar flow when we have a prolonged period of warm weather. I believe we need daytime temps of 60+ and mild nights. Not likely here at present!!
