I am unsure if i have my calculations right regarding the 16 and 11 day rules and could do with advice before i open up to inspect tomorrow.
Last Sunday I did my snelgrove work an put the old hive on top with two qc's. I estimated an egg in one to be 3 maybe four days old and the other 2/3 days old. Royal jelly was *in the former.
I've left it 5 days and then done a door switch this morning. (hope this works as although there were a few foragers returning I don't think most bees were out for the day yet as it's a little cool this morning)
The rules say not to do any door manipulation after day 13.*
Thing I don't understand is, is day 13 from when I do the snelgrove installation or from when I think the qc has been laid in??
I need to take the stack apart and check the hive with all the foragers with the old queen on two frames below aswell. Are there any tips in mistakes I should avoid whilst doing so?
Thanks
