Just read the chairman's address in this quarter's magazine and she mentioned that during the Royal Welsh (I was wondering why Jenny was wearing a dress!) the WBKA signed a 'concorde' with Natural Resources Wales (the probably totally ineffective organisation that has taken over the responsibilities of totally ineffective organisations such as Countryside Council for Wales, Forsetry Comission and Environment Agency Wales) paving the way to making land held by the NRW available to beekeepers to establish apiaries. Thousands of acres of land (mainly forestries) with easy access to secure open areas, a lot nearby heather etc. it's part of the Welsh Governemnt's commitments under the pollinator plans (so probably UK government will follow a bit later with a copycat scheme) - more details to be published later.
