Did you trickle OA ? - If you gave them a little too much it could result in a lot of dead bees which would smell bad. The odour could also mask chemical signals including queen pheromone. Then they may abscond as soon soon as the weather allows.
Why not change the floor? - leave the roof on and quickly lift onto the new floor. Then you would eliminate that risk and discover whether there are a lot of dead. Best done when it is cold then the bees will be in a cluster.

Get a piece of wire and bend a hook on the end of it..poke it through the entrance and see if you rake any smelly dead bees out..if you don't it is not dead bees on the floor.

Depends if you vape or trickle, there’s some horror stories about when some got over eager on the scales when trickling, whilst vaping appears to be a lot more forgiving.
