There's this bit about trees being good for bees

http://www.woodlandtrust.org.uk/en/...es/Documents/Free trees are good for bees.pdf

The trees have to be planted on public access land - but communities can apply.

Thought it might be worth a look for people anyway!

where i work has been getting these now for 3years. this is the first time they have limited the number of aplications which is a shame. the first year they gave out over 500,000 saplings as they wanted the world record of planting in 1hour.

I did this once, had trees sticking out of all windows of my car lol planted them in a local woodlands and put up loads of bird boxes. The area is visited by hundreds of bird watches every year so it's good to do something for the environment.

Really hope the Rowan (ash) are home grown!!! and not imports, and why ho why are we importing a british native tree!

Rowan (Mountain Ash) and Ash are although similarly named, not the same and the Rowan is not susceptible to the Chalara dieback as it is not even in the same genetic family as the Ash.

Thanks for the update and info, well noted.
