I didn't say it was bad! I said it was an Alkali (Caustic) very very weak I would think.

We drink Cola which has phosphoric acid in it.

In small amounts it may just be beneficial in preventing wax moth

I have not yet done a video about how to wash frames from ash, but On our Russian channel my father shows how this is done, If you want, you can see here https://youtu.be/-7UKyN3XTpo

There are neutral relatively pure dusts available that are chemically similar to those the bees encounter in pollen. E.g. silca alumina titanium dioxide carbon. Some of these might not be distinguishable in honey .

Titanium dioxide might work as well. With all fine dusts ash or not wear a respirator. Bees live and work with fine dusts (pollen) we shouldnt

Just want to echo what Derek was saying about bees being used to living in a world of dust - there's a very comprehenive video/talk about Oxalic Acid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q4WvPNmS7uc) which is worth watching/listening to - and here's a still taken from that talk which shows, not only a varroa mite hiding, but also a lot of pollen attached to body hairs.

That still reminded me that I have several microscopic pictures of bee hair which are relevant to an organism which lives amongst dust. The first - showing the amount of hairs protuding from the cornea of the eye I find particularly amazing:

I've lots more, but thought those few sample views through a microscope might give 'the dust issue' a more enlightened perspective ?
