Hello, I have just looked in my hive for the first time this year and i am sad. There was quite alot of honey but some of it was black or mouldy maybe. this was towards the centre of the hive the honey towards the outside was good. There was no queen, no worker brood, there was however drone brood.
there were not many bees either. maybe 1 side of a frame of worker and the same of drones. There was a queen cell that was been fed while we were looking at it but by the time this hatches (if it does hatch) it will be too late. Should i consider this hive doomed or is there anything i can do?:(
thank in advance if anyone has any advice.

Why have you left it so late to look into the hive the weather has been good for weeks

hi i haven't looked at my bees yet because i assumed they were ok because lots of pollen was going in and i thought it meant thet the queen was laying (obviously it doesn't) i am new to bee keeping so i am learning lessons the hard way!

Sorry about your problem, I am new and making plenty of mistakes. But the best advise I can give you is get a 2nd hive. You can fix most problems with two but you are in a fix with only one. (thats why I have ordered 3 more)
Good luck.

Have you done a beginners course at a local association? If not I would recommend it as you will learn all the basics plus gain contacts who will be local to you and will be able to help you out.
