The weather was good so me and my lady friend went for it and done a full inspection, the brood box had around 7 frames of capped worker brood and a small amount of capped drone brood, the rest of the frames where full of capped honey and the odd bit of pollen, they was also some play cups but all where empty, the Blue Queen was running around on the 4th frame in from the front (warm way) , they will have been around 1 frame in total for the queen to lay in.
This hive is on a brood and a half and the top box had 7 frames of nectar with plenty of bees actively drawing the rest of the frames out, the willow/gorse and other forage is still producing here so I have put the Queen Excluder on and another super which hopefully will free some space up down below if they move the store from the brood box.
I also removed the cosy to make life easier for one handed me and my lady friend.
Should I have done any different or does that sound ok.
Thanks
Steve.
P.S If there is anyone local to Alnwick that could lend a quick hand I will pay for fuel costs as I,m in pain now that is not good for the healing process.
