Already spoke to local club and going to start going to learn with some hands on next year can't wait I'm like a big school kid lol

I can imagine lol

Welcome!

A quick tip - use screws and an electric screwdriver rather than nails to put your hive together - it's a lot faster and cock ups are easier to undo.

Race you some time, nail gun vs electric screwdriver.

You have a point but I'm assuming someone assembling just a couple of hives doesn't have a nail gun. The little brad/staple gun bought makes a massive difference on frame assembly though.

Or just use a decent glue and a set of clamps.. Getting it square (with in a couple of millimetres) is a necessity.

A tape measure across the diagonals makes adjustment so simple that even I can get boxes square - ish..

Ahh but to the beginner DIY er it's very hard to undo mistakes with a nail. Am I the only one who has fitted the bottom rails upside down - glued and nailed before noticing?

nearly, always put boxes together dry, to check everything looks right, it's a good time to spot those bottom bars before screwing/glueing/nailing
