Anyone know a good recipe for making leather dubbing

I have made some. It’s good but stinks so I added lavender oil to the second batch. Much better. 2 parts Tallow ( or use beef dripping) to one part wax and a splash of neatsfoot oil to keep it supple.

I have another one, 2-1 wax and palm oil.

1:1:1 by volume melted wax, turps and linseed oil, makes a soft wax mix. You can halve the amount of linseed oil to make a slightly thicker mix, more like a furniture polish.

If you're thinking of making it to sell, the stuff I bought commercially is spelled DUBBIN on the label - no "G", so make sure you get the label right.

You’re quite right it is dubbin. I’m not making it for myself it’s for a friend who is an avid biker who is dissatisfied with the commercial sprays available.

This is good stuff, i use it on all my outdoor leather boots, it does not put a shine on the leather but it soaks in well and makes the leather supple and it helps repel water.
