Noted today several hives now discarding drones, mostly queen right nucs.
Thats early for me down in Devon.

One of mine has started ejecting drones these past few days.

The colony of mine which kicked out their drones some weeks ago have remained drone free since and had extra guards out on the landing board. A few days ago I was surprised to see they have decided to raise a fresh batch of about 50 so I decided to test for varroa on about 10 of them and was happy to see they were varroa free.

I suspect they are thinking of superseding in the next couple of weeks to teach me a lesson.
