Ok so i inspected today and there seemed to be a lot of drone cells in there. There was worker brood and eggs in the cells in normal formation from what i could see but i was just wondering why there would be so many drone cells.

Hi - experiencing similar myself, seeing lots of drone cells, in large clusters on a number of frames, and right across the full frame. Took a couple of quick pics and of the face-on one, of the 28x19 or so cells in shot, 67 were capped drone cells, and there looks like a lot more yet to be capped (or covered by the bees).

Everything else across the hive seems normal, with good numbers of eggs, larvae and stores. Don't recall seeing this many drone cells last year - anyone know if this is normal/of concern?

I was going to ask how many capped drone cells is too much and indicative of drone laying queen
