Drone brood

Quick question (s),

At what point of the year do bees stop producing drones? I understand that now that the season is coming to an end, the drones get kicked out. On my last inspection there was still drone brood being produced.

Is this something to worry about? The weather is still pretty decent here with temperatures around 20 degrees most days.

When did you last look in?
How much drone brood and in what sort of pattern?
Was the queen still there?
In a little block at the periphery of the nest I would ignore
If it's dotted about through the frames you probably have a failing queen
If it's in large slabs you have a drone laying queen
Has your queen been replaced by a new one just started laying? In which case the odd drone cell is common.
If you have no queen you might have laying workers...but there are other signs

It was about 6 days ago. It wasn't a full check, just pulled a few frames.

The drone brood was along the bottom of the frame and not scattered.

Didn't see the queen but the eggs that I did see were typically of a queen and not a laying worker.

I'll go back in when I'm off work in a few days and have a proper check.

I would just leave them be, time to stop fiddling - nothing much you can do now even if there is a 'problem'
