try the local Beekeeper association, i started off using their land and rented hive space for £10 per year

also try allotements as some city councils allow this, you either need to be an allotment plot holder or convince another allotment holder to have your hive on his plot,(in return for honey)

also try town farms/community volunteer gardens etc

i over winter mine in my back garden but move them in spring to an allotment

as i have had vanadlaism on the allotmnet, i am thinking of returning to the BKA land or keeping just one hive all summer in the garden

Hi,
I spent a long time looking for a place for my bees, 'they have moved about a bit' you could say. The current situation is that they overwinter on my allotment where I can keep an eye and will go back to the derelict farm where they live in the summer.

I have had vandalism on the allotment, and have also upset another allotment holder a couple of years ago, when I had hives there in summer and whilst doing my inspection he and his family got stung. He is fine with me now, but I would only keep a colony there if I could be sure of their temperament.

Get your OS map out, and see if any one has a long garden they don't use. I understand that there is a website which connects people who want a garden allotment with those with spare land (why not bees). I think it is called 'Landshare', and is linked to channel 4.

Dear Friends,
I wish to all of you and your family “Happy New Year!”:cheers2:
I’m the one who kept bees on my balcony. Once 1998-2000 and the second time 2005-2006.
I post an article in BKQ in that time. It is wonderful to have the bees near you.
I can tell you that the bees did gather honey ( my home town has a lot of lime trees in the center of town and a lot of sophora trees).
Now I can see that even in London and Paris are a lot of bees colonies.
