Describing Honey

Earlier this year we got the results of our honey samples sent to the Honey Monitoring Scheme, this for the year before.
By far the largest percentage in the sample was Brassica i.e. turnip.
Question is, can our honey be marketed as Welsh Turnip Honey and will we be overwhelmed by demand ?

Brassica covers a whole genus of plants and not just turnips. Don’t think Turnip Honey would be a good USP in any case.

Plus, it's important to remember that your NHMS results only indicate the levels of different pollen in your samples. There isn't a direct corrolation between the amount of pollen and how much nectar was actually collected from the corresponding plants, so it's not really a measure of the plants your bees collected nectar from.

Brassica's also include osr and mustard.

One could try and market it as Brassica honey.

They're usually swedes not turnips, for some reason people struggle to differentiate (even the seed merchants )

Surely nectar is just nectar? It doesn't necessarily reflect the flavour of the root veg or fruit of the plant. We all seem to enjoy honey made from broad bean, or **** or any number of inedible plants.
