What's the best way to cut floor mesh? I'm making up a new hive and the mesh I have is about 1cm too long. (First floor I had came ready made!)

As already posted tin snips but easier if you take out strands that will run perpendicular to the cut/trim.
then Roll strips removed into a loop. never know when a piece of tin wire will come in handy, (perhaps that is why my wife thinks I am decended from a magpie!!).

This might depend on the type of mesh - wire or expanded metal.

Guillotine, tin snips, jigsaw, hacksaw - they might all be appropriate, depending on the substrate.

OMF floor mesh cuts well if you:
Stick duck tape on each side
draw a line on where you wantto cut, ideally lining up with the mesh
Jigsaw on highest speed and you use with a metal cutting blade inserted
G clamp mesh to a work mate, support both sides (incl the waste side)
Job done.

No need to duck tape queen excluder by the way

Bend it over the front edge , after all it's less than 1/2" !

The trick is not to get your fingers between the two big sharp cutty bits :)

Good job he wasn't using 'Gilbows', the handles of which come together to create a 'stop' .
Many's the man , concentrating on the line of the cut has grabbed his nether parts with the inward curved handles .
I've seen grown men cry !!
