Cumbria is holding its Annual conference and honey show on the 10th November 2012.

The venue is New Biggin Village Hall, just 2 miles from Junction 40 M6 Penrith.

The talks will be given by Murray McGregor and Ian Craig. Both excellent speakers. T

There is a cover charge of £10.00 for the conference which includes a ready supply of coffee, tea, biscuits and free entry to our honey show, for those of you lucky enough to have harvested any honey. There are also a number of places nearby where lunch can be obtained.

Anyone interested please contact me by pm

Shame it's the same day as the module exams. I was planning to go.:(

I will be going again, very keen to listen to Murray, PH was great last year.

The conference was reasonably well attended and although the entry to the honey show was much reduced the exhibits were of high quality. Both speakers Ian Craig and Murray MacGregor were excellent. All in all a good day out even if I do say so myself.

I was talking to someone this morning who said it was good.
Try and avoid the module exam date next year please.

Conference was good. Perhaps next year we could look at the module thingy as we lost some on the micrscopy course to that also.

Good of mr macgregor to talk - does he do this kind of thing often? How far in advance does he need booked up?

A good point Nic + and black comb will definitely make sure I don't repeat the mistake next year

Seriously, nothing mock about this, you would be far better getting Ian Craig. He has a very good structured session with pictures. I just stand up and talk off the cuff, no script, no notes, nothing, and ramble on at times. Ian is a gem, probably less well known in the south than he should be.

Our assoc has had it's fair share of 'death by PowerPoint '. We were looking for something different - and someone who harvested honey this year qualifies!

I agree that Ian Craig is an excellent speaker and well worth listening to, but Murray does not do himself justice. Gaining an insight to his massive operation and being able to tap his knowledge was time well spent.

The answer to your initial question is yes, I do this kind of thing quite often, and would be happy to come to Lancs some time. I do not want to travel 250 niles though for 10 people and a dog.............so if you can assure reasonable numbers I would be fine about it.

To amateur associations there is NO charge for the talk, just the travel refunded is appreciated.
