Ok so now all are back in the hive they are huddled together and you can see the mass right at the entrance. Is that anything to be concerned about?
It's 14x12, 11 frames bias on 7/8 with a honey super.
Thanks

Just getting some air, mine bearded the front all through last summer, even with plenty of room.

They are not outside of the hive bearding they are in a ball inside which touches the omf over about 7 frames which i can see if i crouch down and look in, is that still classd as bearding..?

Next time you look in see if they have built any comb down from the bottom bars.
I have one colony that does that and that's what they look like in the evenings.
Is the super full of bees? Time to add another?

I have two standard frames in there and they have built comb right down so maybe that could be it... yes the super is getting full, the only thing is is that I was not quick enough to put the qe on after the super went on and she layed across a couple. If I add another super can I add that below the current one or will the brood in the super be to far away regarding heat, food? Or I'm thinking would be more sensible to put the new super on top, let the brood hatch and swap round if they're not drawing it
thanks

No problem with the crowding. They do it all the time, put the super on top and let the brood emerge. Makes little difference

I too had a queen lay in the super, Ive since added another super between the two, and those eggs are now all capped larvae, so yes, I'd say they will be ok
